Excuse ME, I did not say "people like us." I said that we did not have much occasion to use the businesses in our vicinty of El Cajon Boulevard, which are largely of the check-cashing, cheap cell-phone and fast food variety (though I visit the donut shop at least once a month). But my point was that these businesses are obviously of value to many people in the neighborhood, because they seem to be thriving and busy. Tom misses Adams Avenue in Normal Heights, and so do I, because we had things like a grocery store, post office, library, and our church within walking distance. I'm sure everyone in our neighborhood, not just the white people, would be happy to have the same here.

Long time listener, first time commenter...
I've been a big Tom Fudge fan for a long time, precisely because of that conversational tone. There are plenty of other news outlets I could listen to/watch with authoritative sounding anchors reading me the news, but when I listen to KPBS and you're on, it feels like I'm shooting the breeze with an old buddy, not listening to some authoritarian news anchor that lacks emotion.

Gotta do what the boss tells ya to, but just wanted to let ya know that some of us enjoy the conversational tone.

Today I bought a carton of Brodmix Flerkorn Ikea brand mix. I didn't try the rye bread but this is pretty good, if you can get over the really unfortunate color and consistency.of the mix when prepared.
The ingredients are Wheat flour, wheat flakes, rye flakes, coarse rye flour, sunflower kernels, wheat starch, linseed, malt, sourdough powder. It's nutty, and dense, crunchy and moist, perfect with a little butter, can't wait to try it with tea tomorrow morning.

So don't despair !!

Tom, yes, I notice when there is less traffic on the road and more space for the individual vehicle is available, the speed ratio doubles. In my opinion this means that the danger for accidents and injury also goes up. It's a bit scary.
